Chiara to open Hixson-Lied Concert Series

On Friday, September 12 at 7:30pm the Chiara String Quartet will perform the first concert of the 2014-2015 Hixson-Lied Concert Series at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s Kimball Recital Hall (11th and R Streets).

The Chiara String Quartet will open the 2014-2015 Hixson-Lied Concert Series with a 7:30 p.m. Sept. 12 recital at Kimball Hall.

The performance will include Mozart’s String Quartet in C Major, K.465, Bartok’s String Quartet No. 1 in A minor, and Brahms’ Clarinet Quintet in B Minor with Diane Barger, professor of music.

Now in their 15th season performing together, members of the Chiara String Quartet are Rebecca Fischer and Hyeyung Julie Yoon (both on violin), Jonah Sirota (viola), and Gregory Beaver (cello). The quartet members are Hixson-Lied Artists-in-Residence at UNL’s Glenn Korff School of Music.

The Hixson-Lied Concert Series features four recitals, all played by Chiara. Concert are 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 12, Feb. 4, March 18 and April 10.

Admission to the March 18 concert, which is at the College of Law on East Campus, is free. Tickets are required for the other three concerts, all of which are in Kimball Hall.

Tickets, available at the Lied Center for Performing Arts box office, at the door of by calling 402-472-4747, are: one concert, $20 general admission, $10 senior citizens, $5 students; two concerts, $35, $16 and $8; or three concerts, $40, $20 and $10.
