Chris Margiotta, general manager, drives a Zamboni across the rink in UNL's new John Breslow Ice Hockey Center on Dec. 14. The facility, which is the university's first indoor sheet of ice, opened on Dec. 15.

A dedication ceremony for the John Breslow Ice Hockey Center is 1:30 p.m. Feb. 3 at the ice arena, 433 V St. A reception will follow.

The event is free and open to the public.

Breslow, a former Nebraska state auditor and former co-owner of the Phoenix Coyotes NHL team who donated $7 million to the center, will speak at the event. Others attending include UNL Chancellor Harvey Perlman; Chris Beutler, mayor of Lincoln; Tim Clare, University of Nebraska regent; and Brian Hastings, president and chief executive officer of the University of Nebraska Foundation.

The roughly 53,000-square-foot ice arena opened Dec. 15. It features a single NHL-sized sheet of ice for ice-related sport clubs, as well as intramural sports leagues and activities and public recreational ice skating. The center includes event seating for about 700 spectators. For more information on the center, click here.
