Art major’s triptychs showcased in MEDICI exhibition

Brooke Choquette, “Searching for the Word."

“Between Mary and Eve,” a series of photographic sculptural triptychs exploring the relationship between religion and daily life by Brooke Choquette, a senior art major, from Upland, will be on display Sept. 1-6 in the MEDICI Gallery in Richards Hall.

A reception with the artist will during the First Friday Art Walk events, Sept. 5 from 7 to 8 p.m. in the gallery, which is located on the first floor of Richards Hall. Admission to the gallery is free and open to the public. Gallery hours are Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The self-portrait triptychs are based on traditional Christian iconography and are representative of the relation between Mary and Eve in the artist’s life. Choquette first made digital photographs, which she then transferred onto wood to imitate religious altarpieces.

Choquette received an Elgas Project Grant for the series, which helped make this exhibition at the MEDICI Gallery possible.
