Three films that span generations, countries and themes will open Feb. 2 at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s Mary Riepma Ross Media Arts Center.

“All Dirt Roads Taste of Salt” is lyrical, decades-spanning exploration across a woman’s life in Mississippi. It is the feature debut from award-winning poet, photographer and filmmaker Raven Jackson, and is a haunting and richly layered portrait, a beautiful ode to the generations of people and places that shape us.

The film is rated PG and is showing through Feb. 8. A special screening and Movie Talk will be held Feb. 8. Details online.

In “Driving Madeleine,” 92-year- old Madeleine calls a taxi to take her to the retirement home where she will be living. Charles, a disillusioned driver with a tender heart, agrees to drive by the places that affected Madeleine’s life. Through the streets of Paris, her extraordinary past is revealed. They don’t know it yet, but they will forge a friendship during this drive that will change their lives forever.

This French film is not rated, and is showing through Feb. 8.

“All of Us Strangers” earned nominations from the BAFTAs, Golden Globes and British Independent Film Awards. The story follows Adam, played by Andrew Scott, who has a chance encounter with a mysterious neighbor Harry, played by Paul Mescal, which punctures the rhythm of his everyday life. As a relationship develops between them, Adam is preoccupied with memories of the past and finds himself drawn back to the suburban town where he grew up, and the childhood home where his parents (Claire Foy and Jamie Bell), appear to be living, just as they were on the day they died, 30 years before.

“All of Us Strangers” is rated R and is showing through Feb. 15.
