“The Biggest Little Farm,” a film documenting one California couple’s journey from the city to the country, opens June 14 at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s Mary Riepma Ross Media Arts Center.

Eight years ago, after being evicted from their Los Angeles apartment, John and Molly Chester took to the foothills of Ventura County with the goal of creating a sustainable, diverse farm. However, the land they purchased was depleted of nutrients after a severe drought.

Today, the Chester farm is home to 10,000 orchard trees and over 200 different crops, along with animals of every kind. “The Biggest Little Farm” documents the nearly decade-long process and serves as a testament to the value of giving back to the earth.
