Nebraska’s top food, interior design, gift, floral and jewelry experts take center stage at the Lied Center for Performing Arts March 21-22 for the Friends of Lied Table Inspirations event.

Held every other year, the fundraiser for arts education is open to the public and features beautiful table displays composed by area design professionals. This year’s theme is “Entertaining Southern Style.”

The featured speaker for the event is freelance designer Ty Leslie of Charleston, South Carolina. Rex Cadwallader, a jazz pianist, composer and educator with Nebraska ties, will provide music.

The event begins with the “Snackin’ Southern Style” cocktail party from 6 to 8 p.m. March 21. Refreshments will be served, table settings will be on display and Cadwallader will perform. Cadwallader is chair of the performing arts department at Greens Farms Academy in Westport, Connecticut, and a jazz piano instructor at Southern Connecticut State University and Neighborhood Music School, both in New Haven, Connecticut.

A table tour is 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 22, and Leslie will deliver the keynote address from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on how to decorate with southern flair. Leslie has been a member of the Charisma Design Team that created the floral arrangements for the Academy Awards presentations in Hollywood. He designs signature weddings and events in historic Charleston. A luncheon will be at 12:30 p.m.
