Sheldon Museum of Art welcoming First Friday visitors Nov. 3

The Sheldon Museum of Art

First Friday at Sheldon Museum of Art will feature teas, snacks and origami lessons from the staff of the Kawasaki Reading Room for Japanese Studies. The free, public event is from 4 to 7 p.m. on Nov. 3.

Student docents will give introductions to the work of artist Yasuo Kuniyoshi at 4:15, 5:15 and 6:15 p.m. Kuniyoski was a contemporary of artist Edward Hopper. The exhibition “Sheldon Treasures: Edward Hopper and His Contemporaries” features Kuniyoshi’s painting, “Fruit on Table,” from 1932.

The schedule is as follows:

  • 4:30–6:30 p.m., sample Japanese teas and snacks and make origami with the staff from the Kawasaki Reading Room.  
  • 4:15, 5:15, 6:15 p.m., learn about artist Yasuo Kuniyoshi and his painting “Fruit on Table”  from a Sheldon student docent.
