The University of Nebraska–Lincoln has launched a national search to select the next general manager and chief executive officer of Nebraska Public Media. The search advisory committee is chaired by Charles Stoltenow, dean of Nebraska Extension. DRiWaterstone Human Capital, a leading national executive search firm, is assisting the committee with the search.

The new general manager and CEO will succeed Mark Leonard, who is retiring after leading the award-winning statewide public media network for more than 10 years.

The general manager and CEO reports to the executive vice chancellor and provides dynamic leadership in further developing and strengthening the public broadcasting programs and educational offerings of both the university and the Nebraska Educational Telecommunications Commission. The position also reports to the commission and serves as its secretary. The general manager and CEO will articulate and establish a vision for Nebraska Public Media; cultivate a culture of innovation and enthusiasm for change; nurture and sustain a commitment to journalistic independence, integrity, and ethics; oversee all activities of the unit including a budget of approximately $23 million derived from state, federal, and private sources; serve as the general manager of the Nebraska ETV Network and Nebraska Public Radio Network; and serve as the secretary and treasurer for the Nebraska Public Media Foundation for Radio and Television.

Committee members include: Stoltenow; Doug Carlson, director, production services (retired); Molly DeLaney, chief strategy officer, Nebraska Public Media; Ann Finkner, board of directors, Nebraska Public Media Foundation; E.K. Franks, director, university relations; Barney McCoy, professor, College of Journalism and Mass Communications; Clay Smith, Nebraska Educational Telecommunications Commission; and Paul Turman, vice chair, Nebraska Educational Telecommunications Commission.

Applications should be submitted through the search firm website. Nominations and questions should be sent to Charles Stoltenow at charles.stoltenow@unl.edu. The committee will begin reviewing applications May 13.

More information is available on the search website.
