The mystery drama film “Personal Shopper” and the documentary “Peter and the Farm” open April 7 at the Mary Riepma Ross Media Arts Center.

Personal Shopper” is a 21st century ghost story. By day, Maureen, played by Kristen Stewart, works as a personal shopper, motor biking around the city buying up deluxe couture for a jet-setting celebrity client. By night, she attempts to channel the spirits of the dead, hoping to make contact with her recently deceased twin brother. When Maureen begins receiving a series of chilling, increasingly sinister text messages, it seems she may have made contact—but with whom?

This film is rated R for some language, sexuality, nudity and a bloody violent image.

“Personal Shopper” will be playing at the Ross through April 20.

Longtime farmer Peter Dunning is the subject in Tony Stone’s moody documentary, “Peter and the Farm.”

Dunning is an organic farmer living in rugged isolation. The hard-drinking loner and former artist has burned bridges with his wives and children. His only company is the sheep, cows and pigs he tends on his Vermont farm. For all his candor, he slips into drunken self-destructive habits, cursing the splendors of a pastoral landscape that he has spent decades nurturing.

This film is not rated and will be playing through April 13.
