The division of Global Affairs invites all departments, colleges and student organizations to host an event in celebration of International Education Week, which the university will be celebrating Nov. 13-17.

International Education Week is a combined initiative of the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education to celebrate the benefits of international education and exchange worldwide. The annual event is celebrated in more than 100 countries, spotlighting international diversity and encouraging others to experience new cultures.

All campus units are welcome to join in hosting an event.

Common event ideas include, but are not limited to:

  • Information sessions on education abroad opportunities in a department
  • Foreign language conversation workshops
  • Student presentations on their home countries
  • Panel discussions, lectures and presentations on topics such as international research, global careers and post-graduate opportunities

As events are updated for the 2023 calendar, details will be posted on the IEW website. All students, faculty and staff are also welcome to join the celebration by using #IEW2023 and #IEWatUNL on social media posts.

Global Affairs will publicize all events. If a unit plans to host an event for IEW, please contact Traci Gunderson at tgunderson4@unl.edu to have your event added to the comprehensive web calendar and all promotional materials. Please ensure that final event details are submitted no later than Nov. 8.
