University of Nebraska-Lincoln is hosting Out of the Darkness, a walk for suicide prevention awareness on April 24.

Opening ceremonies start at 10 a.m. on the fountain side of the city campus Union. The participants will walk from the Union to the Capitol building and back to city campus. There will be free snacks, merchandise, performances by the student A Capella group the Red Keys, and Kenzie Knuckles from the Husker Volleyball team as a featured speaker.

All money raised will go to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP), a national non-profit whose mission is to save lives and bring hope to those affected by suicide.

The event is free and open to the public.
