A celebration of the new East Campus Reading Room is 2 to 4 p.m. Sept. 28 at the Library Depository Retrieval Facility on East Campus. The event will include tours and refreshments.

The Library Depository Retrieval Facility serves as a high-density storage area for low-use and archival materials, including an astonishing number of books, library materials and government documents.

The university recently completed an expansion of the facility, adding a second 900,000-volume module and the reading room. Archival collections moving into the second module include the Clayton Yeutter papers, Clifford Hardin papers, the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources records and the American Quilt Study group’s research files. The building provides a secure environment for little used yet permanent and important parts of the libraries’ collections.
