Obesity diseases prevention symposium is Sept. 21

The Nebraska Center for the Prevention of Obesity Diseases will hold its fall symposium at Sheldon Museum of Art on Sept. 21. Registration is free.

The Nebraska Center for the Prevention of Obesity Diseases will host its second annual fall symposium on Sept. 21 at Sheldon Museum of Art.

Registration, available online, is free and required for the daylong event. The symposium is open to anyone interested in exploring relevant topics and networking with researchers.

The symposium theme is “Quantitative Research” and will feature talks by three internationally recognized researchers — Yang Zie, University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center; Irna St. Louis, University of Minnesota; and Ying Xu, University of Georgia.

The schedule begins at 8 a.m. with a continental breakfast. Programming opens at 9 a.m. and will conclude with a 4 p.m. graduate student and postdoctoral fellow poster award competition.

Funding for the symposium is provided through grants from the National Institute of General Medical Sciences of the National Institutes of Health.
