Nebraska Innovation Campus Executive Director Dan Duncan announced Sept. 13 that Mutual of Omaha will move into space at NIC this fall.
Mutual of Omaha, a Fortune 500 company with more than $36 billion in assets, will be a sponsor of The Club at NIC, a new networking, event and project space for entrepreneurs, faculty groups and recognized student organizations. The Club will be on the first floor of Innovation Commons and is connected with The Mill Coffee and Bistro from the north.
Mutual of Omaha will host its first faculty-focused event at The Club in early October. The networking event will give Mutual of Omaha staff the opportunity to learn ways to partner with faculty and their students. Faculty will also learn more about the company and its internship and employment opportunities.
“We are thankful that Mutual of Omaha has chosen NIC to help drive their innovation and talent-acquisition efforts,” Duncan said. “We are especially grateful that they are helping to sponsor a space for students and faculty to interact at NIC.”
“As a longtime supporter of the University of Nebraska system, we’re excited to take this next step and partner with NIC to innovate and find creative new ways to solve our customers’ problems,” said Brian Poppe, vice president of innovation strategy at Mutual of Omaha. “This new space will allow us to collaborate with talented faculty, students and interns, while also working in partnership with other companies already at NIC.”
The new location at NIC also demonstrates that Mutual of Omaha is living its value of innovation, Poppe said.
“We are committed to trying new ideas and always learning from experience as we seek to enhance our customers’ experience,” he said. “We’re excited about what the future holds and look forward to our continued relationship with the university system.”
