Mueller Planetarium to feature Halloween, rock shows

Mueller Planetarium will show "Halloween Laser Spooktacular" at 6 and 7 p.m. Oct. 14, 15 and 21, and 2 and 3 p.m. Oct. 16 and 23.

Mueller Planetarium at the University of Nebraska State Museum in Morrill Hall, 645 N. 14th St., will light up with laser light shows in October.

Guests are encouraged to come dressed in their family-friendly costumes.

Recently added shows are:

  • “Halloween Laser Spooktacular,” (40 minutes), 6 and 7 p.m. Oct. 14, 15 and 21; 2 and 3 p.m. Oct. 16 and 23: Audience members can mash with monsters in this family sing-along featuring classic Halloween titles such as “Monster Mash,” “Ghostbusters” and “The Purple People Eater,” along with a sprinkling of current pop and rock songs.

  • “Laser Pink Floyd: Best of Echoes,” (55 minutes), 8 p.m. Oct. 14, 15 and 21: This show features laser renderings of such classics as “One of These Days,” “Comfortably Numb,” “Money” and “Wish You Were Here.” It is not suitable for children.

Tickets will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis the day of the show at the front desk in Morrill Hall. Regular museum hours are 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The doors will reopen at 5:30 p.m. for evening shows. The museum’s exhibits will not be open during the evening laser shows. Children 3 and under are not permitted into the planetarium.
