MEDICI exhibition opens Feb. 17

Stephen Dinsmore, "Santee No. 11" (oil on canvas, 30" x 36", 2015) is part of the 2016 MEDICI exhibition, which opens Feb. 17 in UNL's Richards Hall.

The annual MEDICI exhibition at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln will be on display Feb. 17-25 in the Eisentrager•Howard Gallery in Richards Hall. The exhibit culminates in a fundraiser on Feb. 25.

Named after the Most Esteemed Donors, Intellects, Colleagues and Individuals friends group that supports UNL’s Department of Art and Art History, MEDICI has raised nearly $210,000 in its 22 year history. The funds have been used to bring visiting scholars to campus and to purchase equipment, ranging from kilns to papermaking equipment.

Artists participating in the exhibition include current and former UNL faculty members Margaret Bohls, Eddie Dominguez, Keith Jacobshagen, Gail Kendall, Karen Kunc, Susan Puelz and Francisco Souto. Other artists are Deon Bahr, Margaret Berry, Susan J. Brasch, Paul Brokering, Roger Bruhn, Nancy Childs, Ryan Crotty, Alison Rash, Amy Smith, Simon Levin and Crisha Yantis.

In addition, Stephen Dinsmore, Aaron Holz and Therman Statom have each provided work that will be available to purchase through a silent auction

The MEDICI fundraiser will begin at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 25. The event is ticketed with admission ranging from $50 to $1,200. A $50 general admission ticket includes food and drink. Other tickets, which range from $600 to $1,200, allow patrons to receive one of the artworks in the exhibition. For more information, click here.

All ticketholders will also have the opportunity to purchase $100 artwork provided by other artists. Sales are first-come, first-served.

The Eisentrager•Howard Gallery is open weekdays, 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. Admission is free.
