“A Man Called Ove” opens Nov. 18 at the Mary Riepma Ross Media Arts Center. Also showing is “Gimme Danger.”

Stepping from the pages of Fredrik Backman’s international best-selling novel, “A Man Called Ove” is about an isolated retiree with strict principles and a short fuse. He spends his days enforcing block association rules that only he cares about, and visiting his wife’s grave. Then, a boisterous young family moves in next door and accidentally flattens Ove’s mailbox. Yet from this difficult meeting, an unlikely friendship forms.

This film is rated PG-13 for thematic content, some disturbing images and language.

Jim Jarmusch’s new film “Gimme Danger” tells the story of how The Stooges’ powerful and aggressive style of rock-n-roll blew a crater in the musical landscape of the late 1960s. Assaulting audiences with a blend of rock, blues, rhythm and blues, and free jazz, the band planted the seeds for what would be called punk and alternative rock in the decades that followed.

“Gimme Danger” is rated R for drug content and language.

Both films will be showing through Nov. 24.
