Lied to feature ABBA musical, dancers, drummers

The Lied Center for Performing Arts’ March lineup includes a three-day run of the popular musical “Mamma Mia!,” a St. Patrick’s Day show featuring the Trinity Irish Dance Company and a performance by the world-renowned Boston Pops Esplanade Orchestra.

March shows include:

  • “Mamma Mia!,” March 3, 7:30 p.m.; March 4, 2 and 7:30 p.m.; March 5, 2 p.m. – A mother, a daughter, three possible dads and a trip down the aisle you’ll never forget. The hit musical combines ABBA’s greatest hits – including “Dancing Queen,” “S.O.S.” and “Take a Chance on Me” – with an enchanting tale of love, laughter and friendship.

  • Heather Henson’s “Crane: On Earth, In Sky,” March 9, 7 p.m. – Co-created by the youngest child of Jim and Jane Henson, this production seamlessly integrates puppetry, traditional dances, projections, kites and aerial antics. The inaugural LiedFest, a cultural celebration with food and fun activities for ticket holders of all ages, will precede the show at 5:30 p.m.

  • Trinity Irish Dance Company, March 17, 7:30 p.m. – This progressive dance company – once called “impossibly complex” by The New York Times – will make its Lied Center debut on St. Patrick’s Day. The group has performed throughout North America, Europe and Asia.

  • Riders in the Sky, March 24, 7:30 p.m. – The Grammy-winning musical quartet salutes western movie, music and TV star Roy Rogers with humor and wit. The group’s setlist includes such classics as “Tumbling Tumbleweeds,” “(Ghost) Riders in the Sky” and “Happy Trails.”

  • Boston Pops Esplanade Orchestra, March 26, 7:30 p.m. – Under conductor Keith Lockhart, the orchestra will make its Lied Center debut with a showcase of American classics. The performance will include Broadway hits and music from the silver screen.

  • Taikoproject’s “Interlocking Rhythms,” March 31, 7:30 p.m. – This group has dazzled stage and screen audiences for more than 15 years with its blend of taiko drums, music, storytelling and choreography. The only American company to win Tokyo’s International Taiko Contest, the ensemble combines ancient Japanese tradition with 21st century American innovation.
