The University of Nebraska system has launched a website detailing how faculty, staff and students can help Hurricane Harvey recovery efforts in Texas.

Through the website, leaders representing the four-institution university system and its institutions issued a call to action.

“The students, faculty and staff of the University of Nebraska make up a remarkable community — one that’s strongest when our values of caring and compassion are on display,” the message, signed by President Hank Bounds and Nebraska Chancellor Ronnie Green, as well as by the chancellors of UNO and UNMC, and UNK, reads. “We hope you’ll join us in supporting the people of Houston in whatever way you can, whether a thought or prayer, donation or some other contribution.”

The website offers links to a Red Cross giving site as well as details about relief organizations, including All Hands Volunteers, the Greater Houston Community Fund, Salvation Army of Texas and SPCA of Texas.

The message also calls on university organizations working to provide assistance for Hurricane Harvey to consider tagging related social media posts with the hashtag #NUforHouston. A social media graphic is also available.
