Free jazz recital features faculty compositions

The UNL Faculty Jazz Ensemble will perform a free, open to the public concert at 7:30 p.m. March 29 in the Westbrook Music Building.

The performance will feature contemporary jazz pieces by John Ellis and John McNeil. The ensemble will also continue its tradition of performing new, original compositions, premiering works by music faculty Peter Bouffard and Tom Larson.

Members of the group include Bouffard on guitar; Larson, piano; Dave Hall, drums; Paul Haar, saxophone; Hans Sturm, bass; and Darryl White, trumpet.

The UNL Faculty Jazz Ensemble drew national attention in 2010 with their appearance on the NET Television and Glenn Korff School of Music program Jazz Cabaret, which has been viewed by millions.
