FBI special agent to discuss current cyber threats

Kenneth Schmutz, a special agent with the FBI Cyber Task Force, Omaha Division, will be presenting “Current Cyber Threats” at 1 p.m. Oct. 18 in the Nebraska Union.

The FBI is the lead federal agency for investigating cyber attacks by criminals, overseas adversaries, and terrorists. Cyber intrusions are becoming more commonplace, more dangerous, and more sophisticated. Schmutz will highlight the agency’s current efforts and what universities and individuals can do to mitigate risk.

The National Cyber Security Awareness Month presentation is presented by Information and Technology Services’ Information Security Special Interest Group. The session will also be streamed live.
