Nebraska Extension is promoting awareness and understanding of poverty through a role-play simulation of diverse family units navigating daily and weekly tasks while in poverty.

The interactive program will be held 8:30-11 a.m. Nov. 21 at the Nebraska Extension in Lancaster County conference rooms, 444 Cherrycreek Rd, Suite A, Lincoln.

The intention of the poverty simulation is to increase understanding, dispel myths, transform perspectives and spark community change. The program may serve as a professional development opportunity for organizations that interact with or serve people experiencing poverty. Participants will be assigned a role in the simulation, navigating a room of families and community agencies.

Those interested are asked to register by Nov. 17. Cost is $10 per person and can be cash, check (payable to Lancaster County Extension) or debit/credit card (with a small fee). Those with questions can contact Extension Educator Emily Gratopp at 402-441-7180 or emily.gratopp@unl.edu.
