Embury lecture to explore history of Tile Club artists

Stuart P. Embury, a Nebraska alumnus, collector and donor is coming to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln to deliver a talk about the Tile Club, a group of artists that formed a club in 1877. The free talk is 3:30 p.m. Oct. 24 in Love Library South, Room 29.

Members of the Tile Club included American artists such as Winslow Homer, J. Alden Weir, Augustus Saint-Gaudens and William Merritt Chase among others. Embury will focus the 10-year history of the club and the rare book they produced in 1886.

Embury is a donor of the University Libraries’ Stuart P. Embury MD Library of American Art. His presentation is free and open to the public. It is sponsored by the University Libraries.
