Brian Glaze, a utility operator with UNL's Utility Services, opens a valve as a boiler was brought online. A chilled water outage is planned for City Campus from Dec. 21 to Jan. 4.

A chilled water outage is planned for City Campus from Dec. 21 to Jan. 4.

The outage supports the installation of new 36-inch diameter pipes at the intersection of 16th and W streets. The new pipes will link the City Campus chilled water system to a new thermal energy storage tank that is being built north of 17th and Y streets.

The chilled water outage dates were selected to coincide with a reduced level of student, faculty and staff activity on campus. During the outage, there will be no chilled water for equipment cooling or air conditioning. Building cooling will be provided using colder outside air. Interior building temperatures may be elevated if warm days occur during the outage.
