Art talk to explore Rothko’s career, legacy

"Yellow Band," a painting by Mark Rothko, will be featured during a Nov. 9 talk by the artist's son, Christopher Rotko.

Christopher Rothko, son of iconic artist Mark Rothko, will share his perspective on his father’s career and artistic legacy in a lecture at 6 p.m. Nov. 9 at the Sheldon Museum of Art.

The talk will highlight the painting “Yellow Band,” which is part of Sheldon’s permanent collection and is featured in the exhibition “Now’s the Time.”

Christopher Rothko chairs the board of directors of the Rothko Chapel, Houston, and is the author of “Mark Rothko: From the Inside Out.”

Tickets are available here and are free for members of the Sheldon Art Association, $10 for non-members and $5 for non-member students.
