Polish director Andrzej Wajda’s last movie, “Afterimage,” opens July 21 at the Mary Riepma Ross Media Arts Center at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

“Afterimage” is about avant-garde artist Władysław Strzemiński, who battled Stalinist orthodoxy and his own physical impairments to advance his progressive ideas about art.

Also continuing at The Ross is “The Hero,” which runs through July 27. “The Hero” features Sam Elliott as an aging actor confronting mortality and whose priorities are brought into sharp focus by a surprise cancer diagnosis.

Visit the Ross website for showtimes, complete listings and to purchase tickets.
